National Exam Results are In!

We have just received an email from Geoffrey, the Headteacher at Iruri Primary School. This year they had a record 13 students who passed the national exam and are eligible to go on to high school beginning this February. This is up from 5 students in 2012 so our scholarship program has made a huge impact on the scholastic achievement in this rural community. In the past it is possible that the motivation was not there to succeed since most families could not afford to send their children on to higher education, especially for the girls. This year, with our program they had a record number of girls, 11 out of the 13 who qualified.

The parents have been informed and we are now waiting to find out which schools these students will attend. When our 5 board members arrive in May for our four day visit to the school we will be able to meet these students. Once they are established in their schools we will be able to find out if they have Internet access so sponsors might directly communicate with their student. Not all schools are equipped with Internet, however. We will let sponsors know as soon as we find out any more information.

Thank you, sponsors, once again for changing a life, a family and ultimately a whole community. Remember the Kikuyu word kurota is "to dream" and these students now have their dream come true.
