Q: What does Iruri Kurota mean?

"Iruri" is a Kikuyu word wihich means a "place of a salt lick" and is located in the Central Province in Kenya, and "Kurota" is the Kikuyu word for "to dream".  Most of the children in the school are from the Kikuyu tribe.

Q: Are you a 501(c)(3) organization?

Yes, we are.  Any donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.  Our tax identification number is 46-0632190.

Q: How much of your funds actually go into helping the school?

About 95% of the funds raised will go into providing improvements for the school environment and scholarships. The 5 percent is for office supplies like stamps and envelopes to send out our tax deduction letters as well as providing a PO Box for our non profit and for our business cards and wire transfers to Kenya for our school project funds.
